2013 RSVP Online Semen Sale

 

RESULTS

 

 

Saturday 15th June saw the 4th Annual RSVP Online Droughtmaster Semen Sale again produce some outstanding results. 

Arguably the greatest offering of Droughtmaster Sires ever assembled attracted registered bidders from both QLD and NSW. 

2 sires held the billing for top price with Talgai Impact offered by Calioran Droughtmasters making the top money of $315/straw

selling to Rod Doyle, Sunny Springs Droughtmasters, Willowbank through Elders Toowoomba agent Andrew Meara. 

Sunny Springs also selected 2 packages in  Calioran Geronimo at $65/straw and 1 each in Angle Zed Commandante ($70),

Calioran Reynold($100), Wundaburra Juggernaut($40) and a package in Minlacowie Cairo. The other package to also

make the $315 mark was Glenlands Parker offered by Jembrae Droughtmasters and selling to Lachlan & Kate McMaster,

Elkay 2 Droughtmasters, Bungunya.  A single package in Bryvonlea’s new sire of the moment, Vale View Ripper

attracted a winning bid of $285/straw from Kevin Hooker acting on behalf of River Junction Droughtmasters. 

River Junction signed off on 3 packages including Glenlands D Jet Set at $145/straw and a package in Vale View Slasher. 

Packages in Calioran’s Main Sire, Glenlands Millenium sold strongly with Mark Maher, Rathluba Droughtmasters fending off strong competition to

secure all 4 packages for $280, $275, $185 and $185. Breed legend Swan 609 attracted spirited bidding to reach $280/straw before being knocked

down to Brett Weick, Barwonga Farm Droughtmasters, Piallaway, NSW, bidding through Elders Toowoomba.  Barwonga Farm signed off on

6 packages in total including both lots of Fairhaven 99/5, both lots of Swan Forest Gump and the package of Swan 84. 

Rondel Kenzie was a solid performer selling for $270/straw to Ross Kinbacher, Garthowen Droughtmasters, Biggenden. 

Garthowen also invested in Glenlands Parker for $175/straw. Rondel Kenzie also attracted $260/straw to sale hosts RSVP Droughtmasters, Windera,

looking to re-invest in quality genetics.  Wingfield Boris was again a solid performer with 2 packages realizing $160 and $155/straw with

both being snapped up by David & Elizabeth Spring, Kiverton Droughtmasters, Harlin.  Kiverton also invested in Glenlands Overlord at $75/straw and a package in Talgai Chico. 

Volume Purchasers under pinning the strong result were Ridgie Didge Droughtmasters with 9 packages and Nindethana Droughtmasters signing off on 7.

medium framed, perfect uddered fertile dams. We have used sons and grandsons of Godfreys in our herd

and you can always see his stamp on his decscendants. His bulls always display his excellent polled head,

even muscled carcase.

His sons have sold to a top of $25,000, grandsons have sold for a top of $100,000 (Minlacowie Lexington) .

We have sold nearly 50 of his sons through the sale ring to average $7617.Godfrey although the ‘elder

statesman’ of our herd now spends his days in retirement.

Billabong Jackson is a long, fleshy bull with an exceptionally quiet temperament. His progeny have
 
impressive show and sale records. Among the most exciting successes was the sale of Bryvonlea Elisha, to
 
the Atkinson Family for $55,000.00, the 2nd highest sale price at the 2005 Rockhampton National Bull
 
Sale, winning the Reserve Senior Bull at Beef 2006 and the Supreme Droughtmaster Exhibit at the
 
Gympie Feature Show. Seventeen of Billabong Jackson's sons, sold at the Rocky National Sales, have
 
averaged $10,970.00. Overall 63 bulls have been sold to average $6750.00. Many of his daughters have
 
been retained in the stud while those sold have topped at $7000.00. He passed away in 2011 and is sadly

fleshing. Ketchup's sire Kapalee Goldfinger was the Top Priced Bull at the 1998 National Bull Sale,

Purchased from the Billabong Stud in 2008 for $15000 the 2nd top priced sire of the sale with a

tremendous combination of breed quality and character complementing his optimum beef and carcase

attributes (EMA 116, FAT 12/11) an excellent weight for age (873 kgs @ 24 mths) a tidy underline with a

scrotal circumference of 38cm. His sire produced the $11,000 top price heifer of the 2008 Female Focus

Sale and his dam's first calf, Patriot, sold in 2007 for $11000. 2012 saw a strong line up of Riley's male

progeny auctioned at the Feb All Breeds Bull Sale with Bryvonlea Lockyer, topping our draft at $6500,

selling to Redskin Droughtmasters. Heifers by Billabong Riley topped the 2012 National Droughtmaster

Female Sale reaching $5750. 7 Sons of Riley sold to a top $15000 twice and an average of $7142.00 at

the 2012 Droughtmaster National Bull Sale. Heifers are sold at RSVP Female Sale, Central Qld Female

Sale and The Cream of the Crop Female Sale.

calves are impressing with there thickness and excellent coat types as well as polled heads and excellent

Droughtmaster section of the Feb All Breeds Sale selling to the Dahl Family for $6000 on a difficult

market. Overall sales 35 sons to date have averaged $5015.00.

priced unjoined Droughtmaster female, Billabong Paris) and his grandsons have sold to a top of

$55,000(Bryvonlea Elisha). His line continues contributing to our herd through Billabong Jack-of-

Clubs,Billabong Nevada,Billabong Rockafella and Billabong Southern Comfort.

Cairo’s son’s have sold at auction to $20,000, Minlacowie Hunter selling to one of NSW leading studs

Droughtmaster Bull. Hamilton Daughters are some of our best milk producing mothers in the Studs. Cairo

has produced many exceptional females retained in our studs including Minlacowie Imogen 4427 Dam of

$100,000 Minlacowie Lexington. He was a very big active bull with an exceptional polled head and broad

muzzle which he left on all of his progeny. He had very good bone and muscle and a long strong top line.

3 ‘unjoined’ females sold at the 2011 National Female Sale to avg $3416, @ 16 mths of age; VV Tigger

topped that sale selling for $5250.

Our $40,000 foundation sire purchased at the final Cungelella Swan Sale in 2000.

His show career included the reserve senior champion bull at Beef 2000 and on sale day at 32-months he

weighed 970kg with an EMA measurement of 137 cm sq.

There are now over 500 registered progeny of this massive sire.

Unfortunatley now deceased we continue to use Ironman through AI and ET programmes with a recent

sons, Isaak (ET) (P) and Igor selling for $5500 each at the 2011 National Sale.

We retain many daughters and the use of Hercules within the herd. Some of these daughters are our now

in the donor programmes while many of his sons are being used in prefixes across the breed like Conrad

(Swan Heart & Wandoo Studs), Denby (Wajatryn Stud) and Glenlands Lammermoor (ET) (P) (Pine Tree

Downs Stud).

Cowboy was retained for his excellent muscle pattern, smooth polled head, tidy underline and his

exceptional growth for age. Cowboy weighed 854kg @ 21mths with an eye muscle of 121cm and fat of

16/12. Cowboy was successfully shown in 2009 winning his class at the Gatton Droughtmaster Futurity and

2nd out of 25 in his class at Beef 2009.

The former $60,000 breed record holder has been extensively through AI and ET programmes in the

Calioran herd with over 80 registered progeny thus far.

His sons Broderic (ET) and Gilbert (ET) are retained and his daughters are heavy producers within the

herd. Their worth is still highly apparent producing another of our sires, Hercules, RNA placegetter in Ugo,

Brandy (14 calves including another of our sires, Geronimo (ET)) and Modesty (Cream Of The Crop Sale

2011).

Impact remains in the top 5% of the breed for 200, 400 and 600 day growth and is in the top 1% for

Mature Cow EBV's.

quality, correctness and market appeal. We purchased him for $27,000. His first young daughter sold for

a Sale topping $11,000 at our 1st Female Focus Sale in 2008. His first son sold in the 2008 Spring for

$15,000, and at last year's Sale, a young 21 month old son, Billabong Sydney topped his progeny, selling for

$23,500.
His sons have sold for a top of $23,500 and averaged $8416. His heifers have sold for a top of $11,000

stud for his muscle, dark colouring, structural correctness, tidy underline, temperament and consistency

of bloodlines.One of Oscars maternal brothers; Professor sold at the 2007 DN Sale for $62,500.  The

top price Droughtmaster bull under 2 year old for 2007. Oscars’ other maternal brothers; Quilpie sold at

the 2008 DN Sale for $12,000 and Roddick sold at the 2010 DN Sale for $10,000. Oscars calves are

showing great muscle pattern, extreme length (weight) and tidy underlines with the temperament to

match.An Oscar bull calf; VV Spur sold to Glenlands Stud at the 2010 DN Sale for $10,000. Oscar is also

the sire of our ever consistent ‘show female’ VV Smarty Pants who was Supreme DM Exhibit at 2010

Sydney Royal, selected in the top 10 line up of the Junior Interbreed Female at Sydney Royal Show,

Supreme Exhibit at 2010 Gatton Futurity and Supreme Champion Female at 2010 Toogoolawah Show to

name a few.

PLAYBOY; calved in September 2005.  Playboy is a full brother to Vale View Overload who sold at the

2006 DN Sale for $20,000 to Rondel Stud and maternal brother to Champion Show Heifer ‘Smarty

Pants’. Playboy is a very eye-catching bull, he has quality muscling and structural correctness, tidy sheath,

good size testicles, strong polled sire’ head and the temperament to go with it. Playboys consistency of

breeding was a major contributor in selecting him as one of our sires. Kandy (his dam) has produced

cracking calves every year, it doesn't matter which bulls she goes with, that is the true meaning of

'consistency'.

Playboys calves exhibit these attributes and some have excelled themselves on the show ring winning

numerous broad ribbons at major shows.  His females kept within stud have milked well with very tidy

udders. Playboy's breedplan figures are well above the average.

 

Playboys bulls sold to date have avg $8000, females avg $4375 at the 2011 National Female Sale.

POPEYE; calved November 2005. Popeye was sold at the 2007 DN. Sale to R&R Stud, in 2011 we jumped

at the chance to purchase Popeye back after spending 4 successful years with R&R.

Popeye is sired by Glenlands I Spy (Kingaroy) out of Glenlands 2440.

From what we have seen, Popeye is throwing true to type with good feet, very clean sheath, a lot of leg

and length and very good temperament.

We look forward to see what Popeye can do with our cows.

Purchased at the National Droughtmaster Sale for $11,500 at 29 mths EMA 124, Weight 924kgs, 14/9

A very deep, long, fleshy bull with a beautiful temperament. A bull with great eye appeal and breed

character that we look for soft, easy doing, structurally sound with great skin and head.


First Offering of Vale View Ripper females Ripped the Records to shreds with Bryvonlea Jemma 2 topping

the Droughtmaster National Female 2013 sale by an amazing $18000. Her team mates were not to be left

out of the limelight, together they broke the Sale Average and set the bar at $12000 average.

Prior to the sale Dave & Colleen Smith selected Bryvonlea Next Ripper an impressive 18mth old Ripper

herd.Slasher won numerous broad ribbons at major shows inc Grand Champion Droughtmaster Bull at the

2010 Sydney Royal, Interbreed Champion Bull at 11mths of age at the 2009 Laidley Show and won his class

at the 2009 Ekka to name a few.Slasher has since been sold privately for $12,000, his calves are showing

his typical attributes with the loose fleshing of skin, great backends and sirey heads.
