The RSVP Droughtmaster Stud was founded by Steven & Ross Pickering in 2002, based on Ranelagh, Glaston Hill, Minlacowie and Yackatoon bloodlines. The Sylvan Springs Stud was purchased from Graham and Fiona McFarlane in June 2006. We are committed to continuing to produce cattle of the same excellent quality. The Sylvan Springs herd comprises quality genetics in Swan and Wallace Vale bloodlines.
Our aim is to breed cattle that excel both commercially and in the stud arena. Our females must be productive under a range of seasonal conditions. Therefore they need to be structurally correct, high milking and be highly fertile. Their sole job is to produce and wean Stud worthy calves. Our bulls need to be well muscled, structurally correct, have a docile temperament and have a tidy underline.
The studs run over approx 5,000 acres at Windera and Proston in the South Burnett. The Proston block \'The Junction\' comprises mostly light forest country, which fronts the Boondooma Dam. There is also a single sire herd running at Cedar Creek, which is located in the Samford Valley. Our herd consists of approximately 300 Stud and Commercial breeders which are run in six single sire herds. The cattle are mustered on bikes with the help of dogs.
The Studs are managed by Graham Brown and Melanie Jensen who operate the Allstar Fitting Service. Graham has been showing cattle for over 20 years and has judged at Beef 2000 and at the Brisbane Royal Show on three separate occasions. In 2004 Graham won the National Final of the Stud Beef Young Judges in Adelaide. Melanie has been breeding commercial cattle all her life with her families operations. She has won many Regional and competed in State Young Parader competitions.
